Hawzah News Agency –Muslims source of emulation Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi urged that achievements of Shia scholars in different fields of knowledge should be included in school books.
Speaking in a meeting with Iran’s Education Minister Yousef Nouri in Qom, the senior cleric highlighted the role of Shia scholars in the development of Islamic sciences.
He noted that in a recent congress held in Qom on “Role of Shia Muslims in Development of Islamic Sciences”, it was demonstrated that Shia scholars have been pioneers in all fields of knowledge, including Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Usul (Principles of Islamic jurisprudence), theology, and even medicine, astronomy, and architecture.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said these achievements should be mentioned in school books so that students will learn about the heritage and scholarly accomplishments of their ancestors.
He also called for enhancing the relations between the public and higher education sectors with Islamic seminaries.
